What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Initially when I started my magazine cover, I struggled a lot to get hold of using photoshop. I found it a little complicated however, as time went on using photoshop became easier to use. I used hardwares such as, my iPhone to take pictures, a camera, a computer (Mac computer) which was a new expierience for me as I am use to using Microsoft computers. In addition, I used softwares such as; blogger, google images, facebook to get feedback and also printex to make a mood board of my media product. Blogger has really influenced my project because this is where I posted my progress from start to finish. Another major influence to my project is the use of google images because this is where I was able to look at the best images which can feature in my mood board and also look at already produced VIBE magazines to get ideas and work with them.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I addressed my audience by the usage of bold text, main image and colours. This helped attract my audeience because they stand out the crowd when out with other magaazines of that genre.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience for my chosen genre will be people who are into rap, hip hop and r&b music. I therefore interviewed a friend of mine who was a fan of that music type ans asked her a few questions regarding what she thought of a magazine from this genre. I asked her why she would buy like this and she said '' The reason why i'll by a magazine like this is because I listen to songs and albums from this type of music and also it will update me on the latest singles being released. In my spare time I like to look at new trends and from reading a magazine like this, it helps me know which style of clothing from looking at images from my favourite music artists such as Rihanna and also charts are in season.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why

The media intituition who might distribute my media products would be Quincy Jones because the publications features in the area of hip-hoP, R&B music artists, actors and other hip-hop like entertainments.The main producer for the VIBE is called Quincy Jones and an African American from an ethnic minority which explains the genre of music and the audience it attracts he then won a humanitatian award are the Black Entertainment TV (BET) gaining him a huge amount of people who supported his productions. Also, Jones is so succeseful in his production that he is able to feature people such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna and even Barack Obama in his magazines.

My chosen magazine type might be distributed the mainstream retail method and this is by using apps on iphones and advertisements on socila networks because its more of the modern way of getting news across nowadays and also to get more customers recoginising it, handing them out at retaillers or supermarket where they will be sold will be effective.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The facial expressionused from both my music magaziaine main image and the front cover image from my influenced magazine are very similar. In both images, the model is facing directly at the camera angle giving an intensive eye contact in both magazines. I also used women who are of the same ethnic minority to make it more effective, both models have similarities in their hair type and skin colour. This is a good representation of the genre of my magazine as the target audience vary howver majority of those from ethnic backgroud listen to this type of music more. In addition, the costume on both women are different but have similaties at the same time, the use of a gold necklace adds more to the image as there isn't a lot going on in their expressions apart from facially. Both pictures have a white background making the model used stand out n#and taken as a medium shot from their head to their waist showing another similary of how they are posed.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challange forms and conventions of a real media magazine?

My media poduct is majorly influenced by the well known magazine called VIBE. I therefore based my inspiration largely on how they attracted their target audience and the images they used to give it the urban modern look and by doing this has helped me achieve a similar out-look to my media magazine as compared to theirs. My media magazine shows similarities to the VIBE magazine as it uses the same kind of layout of texts and bold colours. As seen in the magazine I based my inspiration on, there are wide use of bold texts especially in their mast head and I followed this in my magazine because it benifited ot to stand out, as they used the title'VIBE' I used the title NUMBER 1 which is taken from a hit single from an R&B by R.kelly and Keri Hilson. The use of using a popular song's title as my masthead immediatley tells you of which the genre the magazine is. The images used the VIBE magazine are very strong intensive looks and I have interperated this in my magazine by using an image with a striking look in the eyes making it look very fierce just like the genre of music its based on.

                               MY FEEDBACK

I posted my magazine front cover on facebook to be able to get feedback on how it looks. There was a comment said about the use of the colour  and the imagery used making me think I used the appropriate main image for my magazine's genre. I believe posting my cover on facebook was the best way to get feedback as I have a group of friends with the same music type making it easier to connect with the target audience

MOOD BOARD

For my mood board I decided to collect images that best described my magazine. In this I chose to use artists who are very known and popular in the hip hop and r&b and the images instantly tell you the type of genre this magazine is. I also trued to use similar poses for my magazine such as the photo of rihanna staring directly at the camera for my front cover to creat attention to the audience who may walk past my magazine. Artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara, Drake and Kanye West are well known and sucessful in the music industry, they are always in the charts so people who don't particularly listen to this genre of music can be able to identify who they are and the type of music they sing. MY MUSIC MAGAZINE'S TARGET AUDIENCE.

The target audience I have for my music magazine is the audience who are into r&b music and also rap.   To attract my audience I used music artists who are very popular in the hip hop music industry and this does this by attracting people from the ages of 14-25 and this is because the are the people who listen this type of music. The bright colours used are also significant because they are the kind of colours used in the hip hop magazines. My magazine is influenced by the popular VIBES magazine and I get a few of my ideas from that. This helped me make my magazine have the edgy urban hip-hop look as I used similar images as they did. Vibe is known to feature all the latest hip hop and urban news such as; newly released singles, gossip, pictures etc so I thought their magazine would be best used for mine while its in the making.

This is the flat plan I followed to make my contents page, with this i followed the layout I would like to use. I made a written plan on paper but then decided to make a new one on the computer to make it look more organised. This flat plan helped me have a brief idea of how my double page spread is going to turn out like. I also started to prepare the interview questions for the double page spread while making this.

This was my first music magazine contents page plan. I made this plan to give me a brief idea of how my magazine contents layout would turn out and if it would have looked organised. I followed the structure of the plan while creating my magazine cover and it helped me as it gave me a set out of how to lay out my main image and how to layout my heading as it is not the regular heading structure

For my final product, I made some changes and included images which i took myself. I added images of the artist being interviewed and this was to give the reader an idea of who it is if they didm't know who. On the right hand side of the page is an interview of the guest music artist and their words on the rumours going around about them. The interviewee ask the questions and then she answers, this is an effective way of letting the reader find out more about the artist and know when their next music is going to be released. I followed through with the colours which were both used on my frontcover and also contents page to give my magazine a flow to it, I however decided to use a lot of black text on the interview page because it stands out against the red text and white background making it easier for the audience to read. I used images of the model smiling because the interview represents how she is back and coming with new albums. I completed this double page spread on the 22nd of march, in time to hand it in before the easter half term.

This is my double page spread in the making and not the finished product. I followed my plan of a double page spread and looked at similar magazine double page spread issues from "VIBES". The spread includes a main image of the music artist being interviewed and a stiking bold masthead which will in no doubt grab the eye of the audience's attention. In my next upload will be the final product of my magazine doublepage spread. This double page spread in the making was made on the 21/march 2013, to complete this, I had to fill in the spaces left with text from the interview

This is my music magazine contents page after its been finally done. I made a few changes and added to it for my final product, The image i took made it look more like a music magazine contents page giving it more to look at rather than texts alone. I used similar colours as i did in my front cover and this is to give my magazine a flow in colour pattern, these colours stand out as I have a white background helping the image to stand out too. The contents page in my magazine is very important because it tells the audience what the magazine will contain as they read through. This is very helpful for the reader because it is a page which tells you what the other pages have making it much easier to allocate pages. I filled the page with more text of what the magazine features.

This is a print screen my contents page in the making. I looked for ideas from the very popular magazine from America called VIBE and this helps me layout and set out my magazine. I then used similar colours as I used in my front cover to add to my contents page so it the colours used have the same flow in my magazine.  In my next upload will be the final product of the contents page with the image I chose.  This was done on the 21/march 2013, at this point I was a little far behind so I had to get an image in completion of my contents page

MY FINAL MUSIC MAGAZINE COVER 

This is my final music magazine front cover and I used a striking image to create attention to a buyer when passing by. I also used this image because it is very eye catching as the model is looking directly in the camera creating intensity but also softness with a little smile. I used bright colours for my front page because it attracts the featured audience and brings the front cover alive. I also used a bold masthead which says 'number 1' to show how highly rated the magazine is and how it is at the top of all r'n'b magazine ranking. On the front cover, I including the price and a barcode making it look very professional and as a magazine in a shop would have. Going down the side are some urban featured music give the audience the idea of what will be included in this issue of the magazine.
